Electric vehicles have different maintenance needs compared to traditional combustion engine cars. While they generally require less maintenance, there are still important checks and services to keep up with.
What EVs Need
Electric vehicles still need regular servicing including brake fluid changes, tyre rotation and replacement, cabin air filter replacement, coolant system checks for battery thermal management, and software updates.
What EVs Don't Need
Unlike combustion vehicles, EVs don't need oil changes, spark plug replacements, timing belt changes, exhaust system repairs, or clutch replacements. This significantly reduces running costs.
EV Tyre Wear
Electric vehicles tend to wear tyres faster due to the instant torque delivery and heavier weight from batteries. Regular tyre checks and rotation are important for maintaining range and safety.
Battery Health
Your EV battery is designed to last many years, but battery health can be maintained by avoiding frequent fast charging, not regularly discharging below 20%, and parking in shade when possible.
